The NMLRA would like to bring gunsmiths, artisans, craftspeople, and enthusiasts together for a 2-day celebration of the preservation of the skills needed to create the American Longrifle and its accompanying accouterments.

2021 Youth Gunbuilding Scholarship | Southern Ohio Artisan Workshops

In an effort to promote and encourage the art of longrifle building among young people , we are proud to offer a scholarship to the Gunmaker's Workshop. Thanks to the combined generosity of both the Kentucky Rifle Foundation and Jason Gatliff of Muzzleloader Magazine , this scholarship will allow for one recipient to join the January 2021 Gunmaker's Workshop by covering the full cost of tuition, room and board - plus an additional amount which in most cases will cover the cost of all gun parts needed to participate in the class.

Falling Leaves Shooting Festival 2020

On September 18th, the Walter Cline Range’s Primitive range came to life once again this year with the “Falling Leaves Shooting Festival”. Organized by Tim Hamblen, this traditional muzzleloading shoot brought nearly a hundred shooters and campers into the valley for a weekend of fun and friendship.

A Collaboration in Gun Building | Chuck Edwards and Hershel House, Muzzle Blasts Archives2004

I first met Chuck Edwards in October of 2001 at a rendez­vous in bis hometown of Bloomfield, Missouri. I recognized him from a photograph in an article written by Ted Franklin Belue entitled "Chuck Edwards: Steeped in the Woodbury Tra­dition." As a gun builder myself I have been a longtime ad­mirer of Hershel House (ever since the Foxfire 5 article), and more recently of Chuck Edwards.

NRA/NMLRA ML Instructor Course to be held in Mansfield, MA

There will be an NRA/NMLRA Muzzleloading Instructor course held this November, 7 & 8 at the Mansfield Fish and Game Club in Mansfield Massachusetts.

Please note that this course is a BIT course.

The two flintlock firearms that are the focus of this se­ries (figs. 1 & 2) are extremely important as landmark sur­vivals of the mid-18th-century frontier. They represent the conflict between Colonialism, becoming Americans, and the collision with American natives.

Bill Raby's 4 Bore Rifle Build - Part 20

Bill continues his 4 bore rifle build this week as he finished up the rivets on the barrel rib and bedded the barrel into the stock.

Bill notes that the bedding of the barrel to the stock diverges from the historical accuracy of the rifle, but the amount of recoil this gun will put off really warrants the modern bedding.
