Precision Muzzleloaders and their marksmen gathered in late May (6ft apart) at the NMLRA Range to compete in the Inline Hunters Match.
This match pits each rifleman not against their competitor, but against the game and mother nature as they strive to shoot as accurately as possible. Windy conditions and 200+ yard shots made for an action packed day of muzzle loading shooting sports.
Jeff Fisk of Bestill Creations came out on top this weekend with an overall score of 170 and 9 X. It was a close race though with the top scores coming down to the number of Xs shot on the paper matches. Comically enough, Jeff was shooting against several of his own rifles as he had built just about half of the muzzleloaders used on the range this weekend.
In the Expert Class, “Mingo” took the top score using his flintlock bullet rifle. He kept everyone on their toes all day with this neat build.
We had two sharpshooters competing as well, Morgan Greenlee shot a modified TC Omega while Joe-D baxter brought his CVA Optima.
Regardless of scores, it was a great weekend for everyone. Marksmen from the top to the bottom had fun hanging out and burning some powder while talking shop on shooting. Match coordinator Bob Wetzler is planning another match that will be a variety of silhouettes, meaning no paper next round.
