Jim has always been interested in making things, but after being laid off from his job as an engineer, he began building custom long rifles. Wanting to push the envelope a bit, and with the help of his girlfriend Katherine, Jim started developing the means to produce a high quality but affordable kit just about anyone could build.

During the COVID 19 shutdown, we noticed a dramatic increase in Kibler Kits being built all over the country. It was a real treat to have Jim on the show and hear about what he’s doing and how he thinks about it.

“Jim Kibler has been creating flintlock longrifles since 1990. He is known for combining a great deal of care and precision with a refined sense of design and style to create highly collectible flintlock firearms. His rifles are not only visually appealing but also fully functional and highly accurate firearms. Jim’s focus has been 18th-century American long rifles as well as more elaborate English and Continental pieces from the 17th and 18th centuries.
In every project, he goes to tremendous lengths to make sure every detail has been meticulously planned and executed.
