A friend of mine, Max Egolf stops by the shop to share some of his personal collection with us. This R.W. Wright flintlock pistol was built in 1977 and never fired until Max purchased it in 2016.
The pistol features a 54 caliber swamped barrel, but from the looks of the rifling, this was once a rifle barrel or section of a rifle barrel. Having shot it several hundred times, at NMLRA events, Max says it's quite accurate.
All of the engraving was done by RW Wright in the English Style. It's simple lines add some flair to the simple design of the pistol, but don't take it overboard.
One neat part of the piece is the bone tip on the ramrod. This adds a bright white spot at the muzzle, balanced by the lock screw holding the hammer. Through his own investigation, Max says RW Wright didn't build many pistols, but the ones he has seen have been equal in quality. This pistol is stored in a box made by RW Wright as well, adding to the story.
