A rare find! A small number of original, colored lithographs of John Barsotti’s famous oil painting titled, Mountain Men and Hawken Rifles, have been discovered by researcher Tom Schiffer and Hawken enthusiast Bob Woodfill. John Barsotti, as described in Tom Schiffer’s recent 2017 book, titled History of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association, was a historian and artist from Columbus, Ohio, who frequented Bull Ramsey’s Last Chance Hotel at Friendship in the 1950s. He would often do a pencil drawing of you, and hang it in the Last Chance Hotel if you were wanted by the proprietors of the Last Chance Hotel for unpaid services.
John Barsotti had the Mountain Man and Hawken Rifles print copyrighted in 1963 and allowed the NMLRA to sell offset prints of it in the 1960s and 1970s.
A limited number of these original, 17” x 23” color lithographs are offered for sale by the NMLRA to commemorate the 200th anniversary year of the Hawken rifle.
Only one print per member is available for $100 + shipping and handling postpaid. Check or credit card orders payable to NMLRA, Box 67, Friendship, IN 47023. Get yours while they last!
