NMLRA Member and Volunteer finds a kidney donor
GREAT NEWS! Back in December of 2019 we published a story about Firefighter Mike Weissmann, one of our Green Township Fire & EMS family, who is battling kidney failure and was in search of a donor. The response was amazing and many people offered support and quite a few were tested to see if they would be a match for an organ donation.
As it turns out, he didn't have to look far. In the end, it was found that Green Township Fire & EMS Lieutenant Jeff Williams is a match. The transplant has been on hold for some time due to the COVID-19 virus-induced postponement of all but the most critical of medical procedures in hospitals.
We are happy to report that both Mike and Jeff are now cleared for their portions of the transplant procedure and it will take place very soon. We wish the very best to them as they undergo the surgeries.
Please join us in supporting these two men who have done so much for others. It's not an easy procedure for either of them. Good luck Mike! And thanks to Jeff for your incredible gift!
