It is with heavy hearts that The Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. announces the passing of retired member James "Jimmy" Hyatt on October 7, 2020. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of the Friendship community and started making runs with the fire department at a very young age and continued for over 50 years until he retired. Jimmy was involved in the community in many ways over the years in addition to the fire department. He was a Special Deputy for the Ripley County Sherriff's Department, worked security at the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assn. was a longtime board member of Southern Ripley County Emergency Life Squad (Rescue 69) to name just a few. Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home of Versailles has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements and they are pending. Please keep the Hyatt family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Jimmy, thank you for your service and all you have done for our community, we'll take it from here.
