As you enter the gates of the Curly Gostomski Primitive Range, the smell of woodsmoke takes you back to a simpler time. Treasures await in this primitive area of campfires, tipis and buckskinners. Traders offer a large array of goods - beads, baskets, ironware, knives, buckskins, traditional muzzleloaders, powder horns, accoutrements and more - and friendly advice to those who ask.


Yesterday's Craftmanship

If you are interested in the fine art of gunmaking, you can view some of today's finest treasures at Gunmakers Hall. Gunmakers Hall is open to the public during the National Shoots. It displays rifles, pistols and accoutrements built by contemporary gunmakers.


Today's Treasures

Take a stroll through Commercial Row and see what treasures you can uncover. Some of the country's finest muzzleloading merchants set up shop during the National Shoots. This is a great chance to find the muzzleloader you've been looking for. You can also pick up accessories for deer season or your club shoot, locate research books and accoutrements or just take in the sights and sounds of Friendship. The vendors will be happy to give guidance and answer your questions. Come and shop with us!


History

The Museum of the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association is open to the public during the June and September competitions. There are ever changing themes with a guest curator who is knowledgeable about the particular items being displayed. Admittance is free to the public - freewill donations are accepted.


Shooting Events

The National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association holds two major shooting events each year at the Walter Cline Range in Friendship, Indiana. The annual Spring National Shoot is held in mid-June and the National Championship Shoot is held in mid-September. Several weekend shoots are held throughout the year.

During the two major events shooters from around the world compete for national record scores. There are competitions for muzzleloading rifle, pistol, shotgun, musket, bench and slug guns, as well as tomahawk and knife throwing. Spectators are welcome - better yet, become a member and participate. All levels of skill are welcome. You'll find most competitors are eager to share information - you may even make a few new friends.

From Cincinnati, Ohio
I-275 to the Lawrenceburg Exit to State Highway 50 West. Take State Road 62 West at Dillsboro, Indiana and this will bring you to the Walter Cline Range which will be located on your right (do not confuse the range with the large flea market that you will pass first).

From Indianapolis, Indiana
Take I-74 East to Greensburg, Indiana. Exit on Highway 421; take 421 South to Versailles, Indiana. Continue on 421 to State Road 129 South. Follow it to State Road 62 East, follow this through the town of Friendship and the Walter Cline Range will be located on your left.

From Louisville, Kentucky
Go to Madison, Indiana. Take State Road 421 North, passing through the small town of Rexville, Indiana, as you are going out of town turn right onto Rexville Road #800 (this is a county road Ð if you are driving an RV or large mobile home we suggest that you go ahead and follow 421 to Versailles and follow the directions from Versailles). Cross Highway 129 to State Road 62 East, follow this through the town of Friendship, the Walter Cline Range will be located on your left.
